Printing in Excel can definitely be a challenge! Whether it's the data spilling onto two pages wide, the gridlines not printing, or the heading rows not repeating, there are simple fixes under the Page Layout tab!
Fitting All Columns on One Page
- Click the Page Layout tab.
- Select One Page in the Width box under the Scale to Fit section.
- Excel will automatically scale the sheet down to the correct percentage to fit all columns on one page.
(NOTE: This is available for rows as well by changing the Height option to 1 page.)
Printing Gridlines
- Click on the Page Layout tab.
- Select the Print checkbox under Gridlines in the Sheet Options section.
Repeating Header Rows
- Click on the Page Layout tab.
- Click the Print Titles button. The following box will appear:
- Click in the Rows to repeat at top box.
- Select the rows you wish to repeat on the spreadsheet (i.e., click on the number 1 to repeat row 1.)
- Click OK.
One of the most important things to remember when printing in Excel is to always preview the
spreadsheet before sending it or printing it!
