Question with a Tip – Word 2016 Keyboard Shortcuts

(or is it a Tip with a question?)

Attached is a Microsoft document of keyboard shortcuts for Word 2016.

However, the keyboard shortcuts for the Spelling, once started, do not work as they did in Word 2010.  Once a spell check is started, the Alt + g, or Alt + I, etc., do not work (see 2nd document attachment showing the options).

Does anyone have any idea if the “underlines” are just “legacy” or if they truly do work at some point??? And if they do/should work, how can we make that happen please?

On Facebook, Rebekah Everest of PayneGroup shared:
"I have been researching this issue for some time now. The reason why it was changed is because the Spell Check function is now associated with a specific task pane, so the shortcuts do not work. Why they still have the "i" and "g" underlined is beyond me. The solution presented by Microsoft is to write a macro for each function and associate that macro to the requisite shortcut. Kind of a pain, if you think about the rate with which the normal document template is replaced in the course of a day by law firm technology staff. But, it would appear to be the only viable solution - according to the MS forums I have been haunting."

Thanks Rebekah!
