Surface Pro Pens
Why would an IT department be worried about lost pens? The Surface Pro Pen offers a great writing experience for Surface users at about $50 apiece. Calling it a pen sounds less valuable. More than a traditional stylus or pen, Microsoft calls this pen “hardware” to highlight its advanced applications. When considering purchasing Surface Pro Pens for your Surface users note a few advantages in “5 Amazing Things You Can Do with a Surface Pen.” Calling the pen “hardware” within your organization may encourage Surface Pro Pen carriers to take precautions such as using a stylus holder or Surface case that includes a stylus holder. And yes, some will still lose Surface Pro Pens.
Blockchain Beyond Bitcoin
Member, Victor Shamanovsky, shared a link to a Forbes article in December, “Why the Blockchain is the New Website.” Though most infamously known through its association with Bitcoin, futurists see applications for blockchain, a decentralized ledger, beyond Bitcoin. At ILTACON 2015, presenters discussed blockchain in “Rise of the Machine: Threat, Opportunity, or Science Fiction?” I’ve collected a few articles proposing possible uses of blockchain in your future work environment. Mike Gault of Guardtime provides a terrific analogy to explain the function of blockchain in layman’s terms, “Forget Bitcoin – What is Blockchain and Why Should You Care?” On Inverse.com Ben Guarino provides four alternative applications of blockchain already in play in “Next Generation Blockchain Applications Go Well Beyond Bitcoin.” Learn how banks hope to apply blockchain in Business Insider’s “Here’s Why Banks Are Obsessed with a Technology That’s ‘Becoming the New Internet.’” Hackaday also offers alternative blockchain applications in “Applications for the Bitcoin Blockchain.” Scrolling through the comments section provides more opinions on the possible capabilities and limitations of blockchain.
