Policies for HR related Documents
Law firms constantly seek improvements to the protection of client information. Organizations must place equal importance on human resources records. Federal guidelines require this data to remain secure. “Get It Together With the 5 C’s of HR Document Management” provides guidance for organizing and maintaining the records. Gordon Rapkin helps us “Avoid HR Document Compliance Risks” in the latest Peer to Peer. The Information Governance Community group created helpful guidelines for storing documents in “Considerations When Securing Your Document Management System” and for documents in use in the “Clear Desk Policy Draft.”
Multi-Factor Authentication for Mobile
With multi-factor authentication becoming commonplace, we seek balance between security and ease of use. CNET provides a quick FAQ on two-factor authentication. Find the balance in the latest Peer to Peer. Ricky Brooman describes a new tool in “RSA SecurID: The Rise of the Software Token.” In SecureIDNews, Jason Soroko recommends “Leveraging the Mobile Platform for Multi-Factor Authentication.” If you find yourself in Cleveland or Philadelphia next week, attend an ILTA in-person learning event related to mobility and security, “Mobile Apps – User Experience and Security.” The LegalSEC Summit in 2015 provided support for implementing multi-factor authentication and other security measures for the mobile lawyer including “Mobile Communication Security Threats” and “Security Architecture 101.” Expect more on security with mobility at the LegalSEC Summit 2016.
AI
John Alber, ILTA’s futurist, recently wrote “An Open Letter to Watson” on the need for Watson to live up to its potential and “re-level the legal landscape.” Artificial Intelligence may sound futuristic but it already exists in our lives with digital personal assistants, technology assisted review in discovery and the $5000 Samsung Family Hub refrigerator. Still need convincing? Read RAVN’s take in “Why Law Firms Should Embrace Artificial Intelligence.” In 2015 ILTA shared ways AI infiltrates the legal industry in “How Can the Use of Artificial Intelligence Benefit Law Firms” at INSIGHT and “Watson, I Need You! Augmented Intelligence for Legal” at ILTACON 2015.
SOMETHING EXTRA – Sleepless Security Experts and Is Email Usage Waning?
WARNING: Do not read this right before you go to sleep. “What Keeps Security Experts Awake at Night?”
With email now a losing daily battle, some have abandoned it as a primary communication tool and use project collaboration tools. You may have just gotten a partner to stop printing out all of her emails but consider Steve Lesley of HighQ’s “Four Reasons Why Social Tools Are Replacing Email in the Legal Sector.”
