But Wait... There's More

Last week members discussed DMS implementation and adoption and more. This week’s ILTACON TV highlight features stories from innovative thought leaders who helped to develop ILTA’s new Law Firm 101 initiative. Explore curated sources on these topics including some from ILTA’s treasure chest.

A Shiny New DMS, Now What?

The “if you build it, they will come” mantra doesn’t work for too many IT initiatives and so the hurdles of implementation and adoption loom large. ILTA has articles and webinars on roadmaps, change management recommendations, checklists, and DMS models matching client requirements. Also consider the upcoming event on December 7, "Love it or List It: Can You Love Your DMS Again or Is It Time to Move On?"

Out with the Old, In with the New (DMS)

With the client desire for greater efficiency pushing the work product at firms, using tools like a DMS effectively becomes imperative. If someone in your firm still needs convincing, share this conversation, “Attorney Technology Competency: What You and Your Clients Need to Know.” Nicholas Gaffney of Law Practice Today spoke with Tony Gerdes of Offit Kurman, Robert Karwic of Orrick, Virginio Basile of Tikit North America, Bonnie Beuth of FordHarrison, Justin Hectus of Keesal, Young & Logan, Jon Olson of Blackbaud and Casey Flaherty, the Legal Technology Assessment creator. Gaffney took a poll and asked “How can law firms, vendors and firm clients work together to create a more proactive and synergistic ecosystem as it relates to technology competence and proficiency?” and much more.

ILTACON TV Highlights – ILTA’s Law Firm 101: Fundamentals

You might have noticed a spotlight, a box office or a movie ticket while visiting the ILTA website this week. We’re celebrating the launch of ILTA’s new e-learning product, Law Firm 101: Fundamentals! At ILTACON this summer, Sandy Mikita and Jeffrey Roach offered an inside look into the development and content of this product, which provides guidance and support to those who are new to employment at law firms. Sandy shares some of the work in developing and fine-tuning the product, and Jeffrey talks about some enhancements based on the different roles in a law firm.

SOMETHING EXTRA – ILTA Blogs.

Once again ILTA blogs has great content from your peers. Check in often to get expert insight. This past week brought you Cheryl Disch’s post, Managing RFPs: Part Two. Here’s Part One if you missed it. Alexis Soard tells us more about the role of the COO in “The Evolution of the Business of Law: Chief Operator’s Role – Part 2.”  Here’s Part One if you missed it. Jeffrey Roach wrote an assessment of Microsoft’s Planner, “With Planner, Microsoft Attempts to Add Value to Office 365. But Who’s It For?” In “Evolution of the Contract: You’ve Come a Long Way, Baby,” Lesha Van Der Bij shares the ways contract law has changed over the years and makes predictions.

As ILTA’s content curator, I’m always monitoring the discussion forums to discover what topics are top-of-mind among the members. Each week, I focus on a few areas that spark your interest, and I provide some curated resources to assist your own information-gathering on the topics.
