This past week members discussed mobile time entry and more. This week’s ILTACON TV highlight features Beth Patterson of Allens. Explore curated sources on these topics including some from ILTA’s treasure chest.

Mobile Time Entry

With so many road warriors in legal and the anywhere/anytime work mentality, mobile time entry brings efficiency and ease to some of the timekeeping workforce in your organizations. As with everything, determining the right tool and right implementation plan for your organization can make all the difference. Members discussed the best tools and adoption rates recently. To learn more about mobile time entry solutions you will want to review the ILTA Video on Schiff Hardin’s case study, “Mobile Timekeeping: A Law Firm’s Journey.” For creative approaches to the adoption of timekeeping, mobile and otherwise, listen to the ILTACON 2016 recording of “Timekeeping: It’s Not Always a Dirty Word.” In the most recent Peer to Peer, Katherine Lowry and Sharon Jesse share a case study on successful practices for adoption of any technology in “Rewriting the Playbook: Cut Costs and Increase User Adoption in Firmwide Technology Deployments.” One mobile timekeeping provider, Tikit, offered an on-demand demonstration for ILTA members. To review, watch “On Demand – Mobile Time Entry with Tikit.”

ILTACON TV Highlight – Beth Patterson on Disruption

Beth Patterson, Chief Legal & Technology Services Officer at Allens, spoke with Candi Smith in the ILTACON TV studios in August. They discussed the opportunities in AI, security, her lecture on “Unprecedented Disruption” and the benefits of being an ILTA Peer Award winner. For access to all ILTACON TV interviews, visit the ILTACON TV page. Speaking of the Peer Awards, nominations opened today. Beth Patterson explained that being a 2015 ILTA Peer Award Winner not only helps her recruit great talent to her team but has allowed her to share more of Allens’ great work with clients.

SOMETHING EXTRA – Women in the Legal Industry

A few weeks ago, ILTA hosted a Women Who Lead virtual roundtable to discuss how to ask for and receive raises, promotions, titles, etc. If you could not attend, you can still find value in the takeaways document in the Women Who Lead community. (You need not be a woman to join.) The Legal Executive Institute at Thomson Reuters provided a synopsis to a recent white paper by Dr. Paoloa Cecchi-Dimeglio, “Nudging Law Firms to Hire & Promote More Women.” If you provide contact information you can download the full white paper.

As ILTA’s content curator, I’m always monitoring the discussion forums to discover what topics are top-of-mind among the members. Each week, I focus on a few areas that spark your interest, and I provide some curated resources to assist your own information-gathering on the topics. If there are specific topics you would like assistance exploring, please contact me at joanne@iltanet.org
