But Wait... There's More - Legal Marketing and Security Best Practices

This past week I traveled through the Black Hills and the Badlands in South Dakota with my family and did not read all the member discussions yet. I still want to share recent highlights from inside and outside of ILTA.

ILTA Security and Training Materials

A few weeks ago members shared ideas for training incentives. Start your incentivized training program today by following one or more of the tactics used by your peers in “Training Incentives.” Add your successful training tactics in the comments. A team of ILTA volunteers recently updated the ILTA Peer - Security Best Practices document. Matt Beland, Henry Moreno, Andrew Richards, Chris Rigamer, Mark Sangster, James “Butch” Spencer and Matt Wakim updated the No Admin Rights, Application White Listing, Law Firm vs. Personal Computers, Cloud, Screen Locking, BYOD, Encryption, Securing Email and Regulatory Compliance and Privacy sections and added Breach Response and Backups: Defense Against Ransomware and Data Loss sections. You can access this document in the LegalSEC Community.

SOMETHING EXTRA – Legal Marketing for Firms Big and Small

Recently, Bloomberg’s Big Law Business wrote “Law Firms Lag in Client Focused Investments: Survey” about the findings of a survey by Bloomberg Law and the Legal Marketing Association. It notes a trend in focusing on social media more than client satisfaction surveys and asks why firms focus more on proving relevancy than addressing client needs.  Smaller firms must keep clients happy too. The Lawyerist.com recently wrote a series on KPIs for smaller firms. The last in the series, “How to Calculate Your Firm’s Net Promoter Score (NPS)” provides recommendations on measuring KPIs with net promoter scores.

As ILTA’s content curator, I’m always monitoring the discussion forums to discover what topics are top-of-mind among the members. Each week, I focus on a few areas that spark your interest, and I provide some curated resources to assist your own information-gathering on the topics. If there are specific topics you would like assistance exploring, please contact me at joanne@iltanet.org
