Time and Billing Tools
A member recently asked about members favorite time and billing systems and received many helpful suggestions. If you are also looking for a new solution, ILTA has several resources to assist you with this journey. Begin by listening to ILTA’s on-demand series, Financial System Selection Series. These webinars cover an overview of the process, budgeting, project planning, the development cycle, designing templates and lessons learned from your peers’ implementations. The speakers in this series also presented at ILTACON this year in, “So You Need to Replace Your Core Financial System… Now What?” In the ILTA Financial Management white paper, Jim Dusenberry offers recommendations to “Selecting Your Firm’s New Financial System” and Frank Schipani provides a case study on “Migrating on Our Own Terms: A Finance System Conversion.” Do you need to explain the back office function of billing to make a stronger case to senior management for a new system? Danial Pratt of Fish & Richardson and Vanessa Lozzi of Flagstar Bank presented a webinar with explanations you can use in “Invoice Process: Billing, Receiving and Collecting – What Goes On in the Back Office?” While selecting the system, tools, templates and processes, consider the ILTACON session “How Does It Feel to Get a Bill from a Law Firm?”
Security Providers
This is not the time for trust falls. It’s security! What is the best vetting process when selecting a provider? Security experts across industries offered their tips and best practices on managed security service providers in “How to Hire & Evaluate Managed Security Service Providers” from the Digital Guardian. At ILTACON this year Michele Gossmeyer of Dentons, Randy Oppenborn of Foley & Lardner and David Forrestall of SecurIT360 spoke on and provided great takeaways in their slides on “Mitigating Risk Through an Effective Vendor Governance Strategy.” Shortly after ILTACON, Brad Keller of Prevalent presented an ILTA webinar on “Demystifying Vendor Risk Management for Law Firms: Getting Started.”
