New leadership structure brings improved security-related offerings and increased opportunities.
We're excited to announce the launch of a new leadership structure, mission statement and deliverables for the LegalSEC™ initiative, which aims to provide the legal community with guidelines for risk-based information security programs that are achievable, measurable and mature.
The primary goals of LegalSEC are to:
• Align the legal community with ISO 27000 series standards
• Promote information security through education
• Foster improved communications in the legal industry around information security
To achieve these goals, LegalSEC will:
• Deliver a set of resources/documentation
• Recommend technical controls (a defense-in-depth approach)
• Provide guidance for a security awareness program
In addition, ILTA has identified a wider variety of deliverables for the initiative, such as webinars, articles, blog posts, templates, policies, technical controls, maturity model guidelines and much more.
The new leadership structure will be led by an advisory board and an eight- to 12-member steering committee of volunteer thought leaders from within ILTA’s membership. Providing support and insight in accomplishing the goals of LegalSEC will be a council made up of individuals within the legal profession who have experience in security and risks. Vendors and members of associations in the legal space who are interested in leading the charge on this critical industry-wide initiative are encouraged to apply for the volunteer council positions.
