Hello
and Happy Spring. The countdown to ILTA’s yearly gathering (now dubbed
ILTACON 2015) has officially begun; the slate of 150+ sessions has been culled down
from over 500 topics that were submitted by you, our members, and our vendor
community. These sessions represent the teamwork and creative
brainstorming done by 36 volunteer leaders that make up this year’s conference
committee. Watch for the session grid, outlining the daily session
options, to be posted on the ILTACON 2015 website at the end of May. If
you are anything like me, you will then get out your yellow highlighter and
begin to formulate the very challenging session attending strategy. Why
does ILTA always have so many great choices in every time slot? How can I
be in 2 sessions at once? Thank goodness that selected sessions are
recorded so I needn’t miss out!
Spring
also means that the search and selection for speakers who are experts in the
session topics has started. If you get tapped on the shoulder by one of
our conference committee members, please consider honoring this year’s
conference attendees with your particular story, experience or expertise.
ILTACON’s magic relies on the combined participation of our member and vendor
communities alike.
This
year’s theme was born out of one question: what does an ILTA conference
mean to me? When folks ask if you are going to ILTA’s yearly
conference it is usually “are you going to ILTA this year?” Soon they will
be asking “are you going to ILTACON this year?” ILTA means many things to
many people, but in August, it is all about being at ILTACON, reuniting with
old friends, seeing what other firms have accomplished, learning from each other
and taking back a new bag of tricks that leads to adding value to all of our
firms.
Here
is my personal answer to that question:
· ILTACON is about
drawing on our personal and collective strengths to empower us to share what
works, what doesn't and empower each other with the tools to face challenges
now and in the future.
· ILTACON is about
reflection. It is an event which allows us to reflect and find new ways
to deliver value through our work.
· ILTACON is about
celebrating each and every one of us and what we bring to the table as a
leader, individual contributor and together as a collective force. It is
a celebration of our industry, our roles and the desire to educate and connect
with each other.
This
year’s theme, “building on our strengths to empower our future” is meant to
convey the importance of shared experiences, education and key networking with
other ILTA members and, of course, the amazing vendor community that supports
the legal industry at large. ILTACON brings together the best of the
legal community and ignites the passion for raising the legal industry to newer
and deeper technical heights.
Looking
forward to seeing everyone at ILTACON 2015 - where we will reflect, celebrate,
connect and empower ourselves.
