Beyond the Hype: AI Unplugged
"Beyond the Hype: AI Unplugged" is ILTA Australia's first premier peer-led knowledge exchange event of 2026.
Designed as an interactive half-day afternoon seminar (4:00 pm – 7:00 pm), followed by a networking reception, this practitioner-led event cuts through the noise to examine where artificial intelligence is delivering real value, where it is missing the mark, and how organisations are addressing infrastructure, risk, governance, and change fatigue in the trenches.
By examining the technology through multiple peer-group lenses – including CIOs, e-discovery specialists, KM managers, innovation leaders, firm executives, legal operations professionals, and in-house counsel – we aim to deliver an honest "state of the nation" discussion that equips our community with practical insights and actionable, real-world strategies.

- Opening Panel: AI in Legal – The Unfiltered View: Practitioners, decision-makers and industry leaders sharing honest experiences of AI adoption, impact and future opportunities. A cross-functional discussion exploring what is working, what is not, how teams are operationalising AI, long-term implications and what may be coming next.
- Roundtable Discussions: Unplugged & Deeper Dives: Interactive peer-to-peer discussions across multiple practitioner disciplines. Key themes and insights will be captured and shared back with the wider group.
- Closing Panel: The Vendor View & Synthesis: Business Partner panel responding to themes, opportunities and challenges raised during the practitioner discussions.
- Networking Drinks: Informal networking to build and strengthen the local legal technology community.
