PURPOSE:
A SIG Chair is a member of the Special Interest Group and serves as a leader of the team. The SIG Chair works with the Europe Programming Committee members to build a cohesive team that works together to develop educational content and networking opportunities focused on the remit of the SIG. We are looking for a SIG Chair to join our Projects & Business Analysis SIG along with the other 3 existing Co-Chairs.
ROLE:
SIG Chairs will meet their goals of developing educational and networking sessions within ILTA’s programming framework by organising three events throughout the year with the ILTA Europe Coordinator, for ILTA members and prospective members.
TERM:
No term set. The ILTA Europe Coordinator will check with the SIG Chairs on an annual basis if they are happy to commit to the following year unless they are notified throughout the year of their wish to stop volunteering as a SIG Chair.
TEAM COMPOSITION:
The Europe Programming Committee is comprised of the following roles:
- Two co-chairs, serving as liaisons to the Education Council
- One or Two of the ILTACON Europe co-chairs
- The SIG Chairs
- Up to seven other team members (dependent on required areas of focus)
The team will be supported by the ILTA Europe coordinators as their staff liaisons.
RESPONSIBILITIES FOR SIG CHAIRS:
- Execute ILTA's strategic goal of member engagement through delivering education and networking opportunities
- Embrace an agile, nimble and flexible approach to programming
- Exhibit a positive communication style in person, on the phone and through email messages with Europe Programming Committee members, other volunteer leaders, speakers and ILTA staff
- Develop education and networking programing for ILTA members, prospective members based on the SIG’s area of focus and target members
- Help drive promotion of the SIG and its events
- Create ownership of topic development and outreach to other volunteer groups or members interested in assisting in SIG roles and activities
- Be actively involved on calls with ILTA Staff when organising a SIG event and developing educational content
DUTIES:
- Provide ideas/topics for each SIG event
- Attend calls with ILTA Staff when organising a SIG event and developing educational content (usually 3 times a year)
- Liaise with staff and volunteer groups to execute deliverables
- Participate in team discussions
- Attend bi-monthly calls with the Europe Programming Committee to collaborate on programming topics that complement their deliverables
- Collaborate with the other SIGs (not just the SIG they serve as a Chair on) to come up with ideas and topics for future events
- Serve as an ambassador for ILTA
Virtual or In Person Meetings (with most travel expenses covered by ILTA):
- In person SIG meeting up to 3 times a year (it will be the SIG Chairs decision, with input from the ILTA Europe Coordinator, if a meeting is to be in person, virtual or hybrid)
- Virtual Europe Programming Committee meeting bi-monthly (one meeting a year maybe in person)
- Attendance at ILTACON Europe (annual)
QUALIFICATIONS FOR SERVICE:
Objective Criteria:
- ILTA member
- Complete the ILTA Conflict of Interest Form
- At least two years’ experience working in legal technology
- Willingness to accept direction from the volunteer leadership and ILTA staff as required
- Willingness always to act as a reflection of ILTA’s core values

COMPENSATION:
ILTA volunteer leaders do not receive compensation for their services but may be reimbursed for expenses.
