PURPOSE:

The Women Who Lead mission is to empower women to advance and succeed in technology leadership positions within the legal industry. The Community is open to women and men who foster female leadership. Women Who Lead works to promote educational, networking, and mentoring opportunities; and strives to encourage open, on-going discussions about topics affecting women in technology workplaces. Women Who Lead does all of this with an eye towards giving back to the community.

ROLE:

The Women Who Lead Advisory Committee will help meet the goal of advancing women in leadership technology positions, and this will be accomplished through: development of thought-provoking educational sessions within ILTA’s programming framework; and collaborate with various ILTA volunteer groups in delivering educational sessions related to specific audiences or areas of focus; and act as communication conduits. They will identify equally valuable networking opportunities to develop collaborative ways for members to share and gain value of their ILTA participation.

TERM:

Two years, renewable subject to application/interview process: October 1 – September 30. Co-Chair terms will be staggered.

TEAM COMPOSITION:

The team is comprised of the following roles:

  • Co-Chairs serve a staggered two-year term, starting October 1, year one learning from the incumbent senior Co-Chair and ILTA Staff, year two mentoring, coaching and leading the incoming Co-Chair
  • Advisory group of at least three additional members

The team will be supported by the ILTA VP of Education and the Director of Events Education.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Co-Chairs:

  • Develop the strategy and goals for the Women Who Lead initiative
  • Develop and lead meetings and drive programming goals
  • Mentor and provide leadership to team members, ultimately building succession planning to ensure successful continuation of Women Who Lead initiative
  • Abide by ILTA's Conflict of Interest Policy

Team Members:

  • Work with ILTA staff liaisons and other ILTA and industry groups to continue to build value and success of Women Who Lead initiative
  • Identify synergies with other ILTA volunteer groups
  • Plan Women Who Lead one day conferences
  • Plan Women Who Lead panel and reception at ILTACON
  • Develop webinars and virtual content (including online and print resources)
  • Help develop and maintain valuable web content to ensure helpful resources for membership
  • Act as a vehicle for meaningful peer networking
  • Participate on team that selects the recipient of Women Who Lead scholarships and awards
  • Help develop and participate in mentoring programs and coordinate with other ILTA volunteer groups to transition programs as appropriate to best serve the membership

DUTIES:

  • Actively participate in monthly team calls
  • Up to two in-person meetings per year.
  • Lead and/or participate in ad hoc project calls
  • Attend Women Who Lead affiliated events (as possible). Travel may be required
  • Serve as an ambassador for ILTA by promoting Women Who Lead and volunteerism


QUALIFICATIONS FOR SERVICE:

Objective Criteria:

  • ILTA member
  • Complete the ILTA Conflict of Interest Form
  • Complete the anti-harassment training
  • At least one years’ experience working in legal technology or working in a leadership role outside of legal
  • Experience as a speaker, author, or regular e-group contributor (or other volunteer experience within ILTA or similar professional organization)
  • Willingness to accept direction from the volunteer leadership and ILTA staff as required
  • Willingness at all times to act as a reflection of ILTA’s core values

COMPENSATION:

ILTA volunteer leaders do not receive compensation for their services but may be reimbursed for expenses.
