PURPOSE:

ILTACON Europe is the premier European educational and networking event for the legal sector. This two day event features extensive educational content inspired by and developed by peers with oversight from the ILTACON Europe Co-Chairs and ILTA Staff.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The ILTACON Europe Co-Chairs provide oversight of the educational program of the conference to ensure it provides value for ILTACON Europe Attendees. The Co-Chairs liaise with the ILTACON Europe Planning Team, the Europe Programming Committee (EPC), ILTA staff, and others in developing the learning pathways for targeted member segments and are responsible for achieving the strategic goals of ILTACON EUROPE by:

·         Delivering high-quality educational sessions that bring value to attendees and their supporting organisations

·         Leveraging the expertise of internal and external communities

·         Developing and supporting planning committee members, staff, and business partners/sponsors

·         ILTACON Europe Co-chairs serve as liaisons to the Europe Programming Committee, the team of volunteers responsible for delivering ILTA's overall Programming Framework for Europe in conjunction with the framework set by the Programming Committee

ILTACON Europe

·         Work within ILTA’s programming framework, strategic goals, target audiences, and planning structure for ILTACON Europe

·         Oversee the development of the comprehensive ILTACON Europe education program, agenda, and timings while meeting task and event deadlines

·         Structure and manage the speaker selection process and speaker experience, including the selection of series facilitators as needed

·         Select keynote speakers for the conference, working with the ILTA Event Education Manager on potential speakers, interviews, and final selection

·         Conduct collaborative meetings and make presentations to small groups and large audiences (in person and via conference calls as needed)

·         Embrace an agile, nimble, and flexible approach to ILTACON Europe planning, participating in the continuous improvement process, and problem-solving

·         Manage provision of input into ILTACON Europe planning from other sources, such as any Executive Advisors, audience focus groups, and the Europe Programming Committee

·         Marketing and growing the event, including but not limited to identification of potential sponsors, working with various associations to drive attendance, and collaboration with ILTA staff on press and publications

·         Opening and Closing remarks to welcome attendees to ILTACON Europe

·         Attend ILTACON Europe and surrounding functions

Education Council Liaison

·         Communicate/collaborate with the Education Council regarding ILTACON Europe programming and how it fits into the Programming Framework

TERM:

ILTACON Europe Co-Chairs serve a staggered two-year term, which begins immediately following ILTACON Europe and concludes at the closing of ILTACON Europe in year two.  Staggered terms ensure knowledge transfer as new co-chairs begin the role.

The time commitment varies but averages 1-2 hours per week.

DUTIES:

ILTACON Europe:

·         Participate in ILTACON Europe Planning Team meetings and planning meetings with the Events team, virtually 

·         Attend ILTACON Europe, including the undertaking of Co-Chair role on the days of the event

·         Regularly participate in planning meetings by voice and/or video: co-chair/ILTA staff calls

·         Individual planning team calls (as needed)

·         Serve as an ambassador for ILTA by promoting ILTACON Europe and volunteerism

Europe Programming Committee:

·         Actively participate in the committee meetings (every two months)

·         Liaise with staff and volunteer groups to execute deliverables

·         Participate in team discussions via Slack/MS Teams channels and email

QUALIFICATIONS FOR SERVICE:

Minimum Criteria:

·         Active ILTA member based in the UK or Europe

·         Complete the ILTA Conflict of Interest Form

·         At least two years’ experience working in legal technology

·         Volunteer experience within ILTA or a similar professional organisation

·         Ability to lead a team and work within a team environment

·         Ability at all times to act as a reflection of ILTA’s core values

Preferred Skills:

·         Deep knowledge/experience of technology in the legal profession

·         Effective interpersonal communication

·         Ability to work within a team environment

·         Ability to prioritise tasks to meet deadlines

·         Business acumen

·         Project management experience

·         Ability to respond to rapidly shifting priorities

COMPENSATION: 

ILTA volunteer leaders do not receive compensation for their services but may be reimbursed for expenses.
