Karen Painter Randall is the founder and chair of Connell Foley's Cybersecurity, Privacy, and AI Risk Group, where she leads the firm's 24/7 Breach Response Team. She is a national thought leader with extensive experience advising clients from the financial, professional services, healthcare, manufacturing, technology and higher education sectors on cyber risk management and resiliency including AI implementation. She provides guidance on the use of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning tools, particularly with the emergence of generative AI like ChatGPT and Deepfakes. Karen counsels her clients on issues that intersect with cyber-related risks, including insurance, litigation, corporate governance, regulatory compliance, and many others. In academia, Karen serves on the Board of Visitors at the University of South Carolina College of Arts and Sciences and is an adjunct professor, teaching “Advanced Topics in Cyber Policy: Cyber Risk Management Solutions for the Private and Public Sector.” Additionally, Karen was selected by the University of South Carolina School of Law to lead its Cybersecurity Legal Task Force and serve as Director of its annual National Cybersecurity Institute.
